The executives who are this year’s Eurostars have stood out from their rivals by exceeding expectations in an especially challenging environment for the automotive industry.

Daimler CEO Ola Kallenius, the automaker's first non-German CEO, was tested but hardly defeated by the semiconductor shortage and the difficult economic conditions created by the pandemic. He oversaw the launch of perhaps Mercedes-Benz's most critical model in many years, the EQS luxury full-electric sedan; pushed Daimler further into the digital realm; completed the separation between Daimler's car and van business and trucks and buses -- all while trying to lower the automaker's fixed costs and break-even point. For this he was rewarded with a double-digit operating profit.

The other 16 Eurostars, who were chosen by the editors of Automotive News Europe, have achieved equally impressive results during a tumultuous 2021.

Automotive News Europe and Capgemini Invent are proud to honor the 2021 winners.
