BYD, in its latest step to expand globally, will start selling electric vehicles in the United Kingdom.
Orders for the first product -- the Atto 3, a full electric compact crossover with a starting price of 36,490 pounds ($43,226) -- will begin on March 15, the largest Chinese electrified-vehicle maker said Wednesday.
Stores will open in four cities -- Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and Milton Keynes -- in mid-March, and deliveries of the Atto 3 are due to begin on March 15.
The electric crossover, powered by a 60.48 kWh iron phosphate battery pack, has a range of 260 miles (418 km) under the WLTP.
Prior to the launch of the Atto 3, BYD has been selling electric buses in the UK since 2013.
In 2022, the Chinese company started selling electric crossovers and sedans in other European countries such as Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
In the first two months, BYD delivered 344,996 EVs and plug-in hybrids globally, a jump of 90 percent from a year earlier.
