New-car sales in Europe rose in April for a ninth month as supply chains improved and automakers worked through backlogs of orders.
Registrations in the EU, EFTA and U.K. markets jumped 16 percent last month to 964,932, the European automakers’ lobbying group ACEA said on Wednesday in a statement.
While the recovery continues, deliveries during the first four months of the year remain roughly a fifth below pre-pandemic levels.
Automakers across the volume, premium and luxury segments have continued to post strong results even as inflation remains elevated and concerns about the economic outlook deepen.
