Twenty-one brands increased their April European sales by more than the market, which was up 16 percent, while 34 brands ended the fourth month of the year with volume gains.
Meanwhile, 25 brands were in negative territory last month, according to preliminary figures from market researcher Dataforce.
Seven brands, led by Geely subsidiary Lotus, Tesla, China's BYD, and Stellantis' Alfa Romeo brand, reported triple-digit percentage sales gains.
